In 2013, b.foundation for Africa, the Brussels Airlines corporate social responsibility programme, partnered Airlink, a US non-profit organisation that provides humanitarian relief worldwide by connecting non-profit organisations with commercial airlines to provide air transportation for response teams and aid cargo. Together, Brussels Airlines and Airlink transported tons of humanitarian goods to West Africa during the recent Ebola crisis.
On 27 September, Airlink and its partners, including Brussels Airlines, were honoured at the 2015 Clinton Global Citizen Awards for our tremendous leadership in responding to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa over the past year.
Established in 2007, the Clinton Global Citizen Awards embody President Bill Clinton’s call to action by honouring outstanding individuals and organisations who exemplify global citizenship through their vision and leadership, proving that diverse sectors of society can work together successfully to devise solutions that effect positive and lasting social change.
The 2015 Clinton Global Citizen Awards were presented during a special ceremony at the CGI Annual Meeting on the evening of 27 September, and was broadcast on AXS TV.
